This axle is new in crate in Macon, GA. It includes all that is pictured.
This is a complete axle assembly (drive axle with differential, suspension arms, and brake components) used on tactical wheeled vehicles. The 3680 lb weight and packaging point to it being a Meritor ProTec™ series independent suspension axle, developed for heavy armored trucks.
Military Vehicle Applications
Besides MRAPs, this axle is known to be fitted on:
• M-ATV (Oshkosh M-ATV MRAP variant)
• Some FMTV A1P2 armored variants
• Certain JLTV prototypes (Oshkosh JLTV used Meritor ProTec independent axles early on)
• It may also appear in Buffalo and Cougar MRAP sub-variants depending on configuration.
It is essentially a heavy-duty independent suspension drive axle designed for armored 4x4 and 6x6 tactical vehicles.
