The proving ring works by undergoing a very small, repeatable elastic deflection when force is applied, with that deflection measured and correlated to a known force value through the instrument's calibration data. With a capacity of 600,000 pounds-force, this unit is intended for extremely high-load force measurement and calibration applications, including verification of materials-testing and compression-testing machines.
