SURPLUS BUYING GUIDE

How to Buy Surplus With Confidence

Military and industrial surplus can offer access to durable equipment, uncommon replacement parts and products that may no longer be available through traditional suppliers. Because surplus inventory varies, reviewing the details before ordering is especially important.

1. Confirm the Manufacturer and Part Number

Begin with the manufacturer, model number, part number, National Stock Number or other identifying marks shown in the listing. A small difference in a suffix, connector, voltage or revision can affect compatibility. Compare all available numbers with the equipment or application where the product will be used.

2. Review Every Photograph

Surplus products may show signs of storage, handling or previous use. Examine the photographs for labels, connectors, included accessories and cosmetic condition. Unless a listing states otherwise, do not assume that accessories, cables, manuals or mounting hardware are included.

Condition Terms Matter

Terms such as new old stock, unused surplus, used, tested and untested describe different conditions. Read the complete description for the specific testing and condition information available for that product.

3. Check Dimensions, Weight and Power Requirements

Confirm measurements, mounting requirements, operating voltage and other specifications before purchasing. Product photographs can make an item appear larger or smaller than it actually is, so use the listed dimensions whenever they are available.

4. Understand Parcel and Freight Shipping

Smaller products can usually ship by parcel carrier. Large, heavy or unusually shaped equipment may require palletized freight service. Freight deliveries can involve additional requirements, including access for a tractor-trailer, a loading dock, forklift service or liftgate delivery.

Mibot also offers free local pickup at our Macon, Georgia warehouse after the customer receives confirmation that the order is ready. Review our Shipping, Returns & Local Pickup page for current information.

5. Ask Questions Before Ordering

If an important specification is not shown, contact the seller before ordering. Include the product title or SKU and explain exactly what information you need. Clear questions about dimensions, markings, included components or condition can help prevent purchasing the wrong item.
