This hydraulic pump supplies pressurized power-steering fluid to assist the vehicle's steering system, reducing the amount of effort required to turn the wheels. The integrated reservoir stores and supplies hydraulic fluid to the pump so it can continuously circulate fluid through the steering system during operation. The same hydraulic system also works in conjunction with the vehicle's hydroboost braking arrangement, making proper pump output important for both steering and brake-assist operation.
